It was a fine idea then and it still is — not because the current field is particularly weak, but because Mr. Cheney is so much more experienced and shrewd a figure, one who could help settle some of the arguments about the Bush years in favor of Mr. Bush.
For those who have the pleasure of not knowing, the New York Sun is a neoconservative rag that makes even the Jerusalem Post blush.

Hey the remote control is hidden in this pic! Either that, or we have ourselves a very long-armed ventriloquist…Cheney is one of the special few who make Bush look appealing in comparison. Shudder…
The pic is positively Shakespearean… 🙂
Wait until you get a load of Michael Totten’s trip to “Upper Galilee”.
He really makes it too easy.
Sean,
Are you violating our vow of silence with regard to He whose name cannot be spoken ? … 🙂
What’s fun is that those like Him who are wrong about so many things (most of us are wrong about some things) have the effect of sounding like apologists for some ill-fated venture, a kind of rear-guard against the advance of reality.
We have only to wait for their own self-imposed collapse. Although a few giggles along the way does seem to break up the monotony of the wait … 😉
Sorry, I wasn’t aware of the rule. But even if I had been, sometimes something comes along that’s so ridiculous that it’s hard, nay impossible, to refrain from poking fun.
As for the inevitable collapse, I’m afraid I don’t share your optimism. If he and his ilk were to all eventually fade away, there wouldn’t be such a multitude of blowhards who don’t know shi’ite from shinola around…
But here’s to hoping you’re right.
Optimism of the will and the pessimism of the intellect, or so Gramsci tells us.
PS: Your blog seems to have some technical issues: I can remember not being able to look at old posts and also I was unable to post a comment once. Maybe the problem is at my end, but who knows … d
There were some bugs when I changed over from the old blogger system to the new, but I think they’re worked out now. Let me know if you’re still having any problems, and thanks for the heads up.
