Imagine somebody writing an article that leads with the following information:
“The Israeli Plane smart-bombing teams use a new and particularly potent version of the American-made XXX, the XYZ-66, that has been sold by Washington to the Israelis and then transferred to the IDF.”
Scary no? Well, this is the usual ramble found in the Israeli press but instead of having information on IDF armament, you have information on the passing of weapons to Hezbollah:
The Hezbollah anti-tank teams use a new and particularly potent version of the Russian-made RPG, the RPG-29, that has been sold by Moscow to the Syrians and then transferred to the Shi’ite organization.
It creates this scary climate that actually it is Syria and Iran that are waging a war against Israel, and Israel is perceived as being backed by the US for defense purposes only. A little parenthesis: we in Lebanon receive US officials, whereas there in Israel, they don’t receive Iranian or Syrian spokespersons…
Needless to add otherwise from the above mentioned article that Ze’ev Schiff (Israeli journalist on military matters) is not very pleased with the way this war is conducted, and this tells you a lot of how much Israelis have botched the American job. He was one of the first to mention that the war was an American plan, and the Israelis failed to deliver..
