I'd always thought that Hezbollah emerged from Amal as a response to the Israeli invasion of Lebanon in 1982, not to the excesses of the LF. As to the 'we are the Lebanese resistance' line, it's quite simply a quote from a speech made by BGemayel during the war. Beyond reaffirming BG's semi-divine within the ranks it's obviously being used today to imply that the the Kataeb, not Hezbollah (that 'other' resistance) are the 'real' defenders of Lebanon.
